Founded in 2016 by Thierry Neuville, LIFELIVE MOTORSPORT is now active in four disciplines : the CrossCar, the modern rally, the historic rally and the historic circuit. At the head of this evolving structure, Raphaël Borman supervises the various team activities. Meeting with an enthusiast to talk about cars, competition, team management and use of RPM.
A constantly evolving activity
Originally focused on CrossCar, LIFELIVE MOTORSPORT has gradually expanded its scope of action. Today, the team is organized around four poles : the CrossCar, the modern rally, the historic rally and the historic circuit.
Among the cars used are BMW M3 E30, of the Porsche 992 Rally, but also Lotus Elan 26R, Ferrari 250, Aston Martin GT3 ou BMW Z4 GT3.
" Today, the first generations of GT3 became historic cars », explains Raphaël.
An evolution which is accompanied by a renewal of enthusiasts. To Cobra or Ferrari fans of the years 60 now added are those who grew up with the BMW M3 E30, touring cars of the years 90 or the GTs from the beginning of the years 2000.
An agile organization
Raphaël holds the position of general manager and supervises the different departments of the team.
His daily life ?
“Fix the problems”, he sums up with a smile.
With around fifteen permanent employees, reinforced by freelancers during race weekends, LIFELIVE MOTORSPORT must constantly adapt. Unlike modern championships where programs are established well in advance, historical commitments often change at the last moment according to the wishes of the owners.
“We never know exactly how many cars we will have at an event. You have to stay flexible. »
A lifelong passion
Before joining LIFELIVE MOTORSPORT, Raphaël spent fifteen years in events then five years in the world of amusement parks.
A course which may seem far from motorsport but which ultimately presents many similarities : project management, logistics, human resources and meeting deadlines.
Passion, elle, goes back much further. His father already competed and his cousin had a brilliant career in touring cars.. After karting, passenger cars, the Fun Cup then the rally, Raphaël has built solid experience as a pilot, mainly driving historic cars.
The cars that marked him
Among all those he had the chance to pilot, two models stand out immediately.
First the AC Cobra, which he describes as “a huge engine with very little chassis”.
Then the Alfa Romeo GTA, of which he praises the exceptional balance and driving sensations.
“If I won EuroMillions tomorrow, I would do Le Mans Classic in GT40 or Laguna Seca in Porsche 935. I like cars that have character and know how to surprise. »
Why the team uses RPM
Like many structures, LIFELIVE MOTORSPORT formerly managed the tracking of its cars on Excel.
Upon taking office, Raphaël wanted to modernize this approach.
“I wanted a tailored solution rather than continuing with spreadsheets. »
The team now uses RPM to track its vehicles and their components., whether it is the engines, gearboxes or other items requiring precise monitoring.
Another appreciated advantage : the ability to quickly provide clear and professional information to car owners.
A tool integrated into everyday life
RPM is mainly used by Adam, engineer passionate about historic automobiles who regularly accompanies the team to meetings.
After each ride, it compiles important information : chronos, consumption, tires used, pilot feedback and interventions carried out on the cars.
The goal is simple : offer each client structured and professional follow-up.
“Even when a driver rides primarily for pleasure, we want to bring it the same level of rigor. »
